Back to Cycling

Though I've been riding since I got back from NZ, I haven't talked about it here for a while.
My mom just happened on an article in the newspaper about some pro teams coming to town for training camps and a team presentation. Luckily, the presentation hadn't happened already, so I decided I'd check it out. The Belgium Cyling Center team (the main feeder system into the European peloton for young US talent), Team Lipton, and the Navigators Pro Cycling team had a joint unveiling in conjunction with a small bike expo. An interesting thing I learned at the expo is that Albuquerque is trying to build a "Veloport" cycling facility. They've already built a world class BMX facility, and the next step is to build a velodrome next door. Pretty cool stuff if you ride bikes.
The team unveilings were pretty much as I expected. Basically introducing each rider, and talking about their goals for the season. One thing that never gets old for me is seeing a current World Champion (and the rainbow jersey). In this case, it was TT champ Kristin Armstrong, who rides for Team Lipton. This makes the fourth current World Champion that I have seen in person--that last one being Gunn-Rita Dahle (mtn bike xc), who passed me during last year's Sea Otter Classic race.
